Q: In light of 11.11.11 and Veteran’s Day tell us about your favorite soldier and how he or she is saving the world. Fictional or real life.

Real & Fictional:

Elizabeth Moon served in the Marines and wrote her experience into her books...

Reading The Deed of Paksennarion is to experience boot camp (sort of) in the middle ages. Paks is amazing... I love the way she maintains her values and influences her superiors b/c of that. She changes history for people she really cares about.

She transported her experience to space, too, in the Vatta Wars. Vatta is kicked out of the military over a misunderstanding right at the beginning of the series. Instead of being resigned to being a delivery "truck", she figures out a way to accomplish everything she'd ever dreamed of, hunting down the bad guys & saving the world. Moon's space world is full of detail and plenty of action!

Hosted by GReads...Love-Hate Relationship: Which characters from a book do you love to hate?

Ok... I am seriously HATING one character that I can think of. I started Game of Thrones and made it all the way to pg 71 when... I seriously HATE this guy!!  Ser Lannister Jaime of Casterly Rock, twin sister of the queen, pushes 7 yr old Bran from high window to a courtyard below... having been caught committing incest. I want to know... is there justice coming or is he a monster who gets whatever he wants? I hate being barely into something and so irritated I could strangle someone.  So... I guess I am not loving to hate this guy. At least I have half the question. Can anyone help me out here? Does this guy get his just deserts?!

(I'm reading Delirium, which I needed to anyhoo, 'til I can pick this up again.)
