Jane Austen Giveaway - Soulless Manga

Jane Austen is a timeless writer... she gave us so many wonderful things all wrapped in one package:

Wit, humor, tea, romance... sisterly love, beautiful dresses, impossible relatives...

Her writing was rather scandalous in her day, so I think my giveaway is entirely appropriate, even though I don't have an Austen classic to share. I do need to preface my giveaway with a warning: This book is Adult, not YA and has ample bosoms & bare bottoms, not to mention suggestive scenes between married persons.

This manga version delivers all the right elements perfectly.  Miss Alexia Terabotti is beautiful and feisty  A spinster of 26, she knows how to behave in society, but is not opposed to misbehaving, either. Lord Conall Maccon is impossibly old and powerful... and a werewolf. The vampiric troubles of a rather steampunk nature are his responsibility, much to his disgust and frustration.

This book is a beautiful soft cover with a few full color pages before delivering the colorful story in black and white. It is used, since I have thoroughly enjoyed reading it, myself, *ahem* and has a little shelf wear on the binding. I couldn't let it go for less than a Jane Austen giveaway. I suppose I should also warn that the winner will want to read the entire series, but that will be the winner's concern.

Soulless
The Parasol Protectorate Manga 1
by Gail Carriger
Paperback, 224 pages
Published March 1st 2012 by Yen Press

Premsise:
The life of a spinster in Victorian London isn't an easy one on the best of days, but such a life becomes infinitely more complicated when said spinster is "soulless" - a preternatural bridging the gap between the natural and supernatural worlds. Miss Alexia Tarabotti has this unique distinction, and when she is assailed at a formal gathering by a rove vampire, an encounter that results in the death of the half-starved creature, her circumstances become exponentially more complicated indeed! Now caught up in an intrigue with life or death stakes, Alexia must rely on all her talents to outmatch the forces conspiring against her, but it may be the man who has caught her eye - Lord Conall Maccon - and their budding flirtation that truly drives her to her wit's end

Gail CarrigerMs. Carriger writes steampunk urbane fantasy comedies of manners to cope with being raised in obscurity by an expatriate Brit and an incurable curmudgeon. She escaped small town life and inadvertently acquired several degrees in Higher Learning. She then traveled the historic cities of Europe, subsisting entirely on biscuits secreted in her handbag. She now resides in the Colonies, surrounded by a harem of shoes, where she insists on tea imported directly from London and cats that pee into toilets. Her Parasol Protectorate books are all New York Times Bestsellers.
