Monday NaNo-ing Encouragement

Generic 180x180

It's November! Woohoo!!  Time to write-write-write with a bazillion other wonderful people!!

I got writing, finally. *____*  That sounds weird. I write excessively every day, but I hadn't written in my novel, yet, so I finally got writing that.

I'm at a tricky part of my story [ - I didn't start a new one. I'm still working on last year's NaNoWriMo thing... which is the same book I worked on the previous year, too. I do not take "failed" conclusively. I am stubborn. Plus... some wonderful readers told me I was onto something and even if I don't believe in myself every day, they help a lot. Winning an award might have helped, too. I will conquer this thing!] Tricky, I was saying, because I want two characters to be honestly attracted to each other despite some... secret reasons. And I'm writing this entire section from the guy's POV, which is weird, too. How to fall in love with a girl? Not something I've personally done before. I feel extra pressure because I have a classic car in my scene and I gotta get it right... right enough that classic car lovers don't throw my story.

The tricky part, however, is the romance. I needed to feel how they would feel in that situation, goosebumps and all, to infuse the feeling into the sentences. I had my goals in mind, all the "bones" that needed to happen to move the story forward, and then I closed my eyes and jumped in. I was there, in the darkened shop:
She never lifted her hand from his bodywork, but trailed her fingertips as she walked around the entire car. He shivered, unable to look away. Her step was so smooth. She glided instead of walked. Her fingers confidently traced the pattern down the side of the fender. Unable to explain the painful swelling in his gut, he touched her arm, capturing her attention again. He needed to breathe, but he wasn’t sure he needed air anymore.

*Shiver* I can feel the moment as if it happened to me. I try to find the feeling of a scene before writing it, it's like an extra layer of a goal, besides all the others.

The Ship Who Sang (Brainship, #1)I think I feel extra challenged having just finished The Ship Who Sang again. There is so much skill crammed into every chapter of that book, it's downright intimidating. I'll try & get my review up while the giveaway is still going. Oh... it's already over. Oops.

Starflower (Tales of Goldstone Wood #4)Lol.

I'm currently reading The Escape of Princess Madeline and I hope to start Starflower soon. Thx Sheila & Book Journey for asking the great question... It's Monday, What are you reading?

Really... What are you reading?!

I have a question... how do you get NaNoWriMo buddies?
