Oh gosh...

Ok. I am not an artist. Lol. But I was really loved the focus on art in Evie's Knight. Evie and Calvin are in an art class where they examine each other's work. Then the teacher gives them a special assignment that turned out to be very emotional for Evie:
"The professor continued. "Each of you will create a piece of art that represents a momentous event in your life."
Evie totally stresses about this assignment for a week and then bares her soul drawing a moment when she felt most abandoned by her mom, hollowed out and empty. It's sooooooo beautiful and painful and amazing.

I drew a momentous moment... in the life of Joan of Arc.

In the flavor of Evie's Knight... I shall describe the materials used first. *ahem* I drew this on sketch paper. (One of my many journals.) I used chalk 'cause I like chalk. It's messy. It takes more time to get fine detail, though.... so I'll have to do another version 'cause this is as good as this one's gettin'. Ha.

(Since I need to describe it...) This is a picture of Joan of Arc looking out at the ocean from a fortress. There's a letter in her hand requesting her leadership at the battle where she will be captured by the church to be burned at the stake. Somehow she knows she is near the end and yet she has a promise from God in the sand dollar seashell on the table. It is broken like her life will soon be, but the birdies inside are now free and she sees hope to respond to the monarch's call to arms.

Heartwrenching, isn't it? Well... Evie's drawing is even heartwrenchinger. And it leads to facing abandonment and finding healing... just, WOW!

Here's the tour... with a couple real artists sharing their art and some great recipes along with reviews and excerpts. ENJOY!

Evie’s Knight

Paperback, 391 pages
Published September 11th 2012 by Kimberly Krey

Premise:

When Evie falls in love with Calvin Knight, their young, virtuous romance conjures a truly wicked spell.

Evie always thought her eighteenth year would be magical, but so far it's not what she hoped for. Her best friend has gone wild, her love life is void, and she misses her mom more than ever. But life for Evie is about to change. Calvin Knight, the object of her fascination, is about to fall madly in love with her. Just one problem: Their love conjures a murderous woman from beyond the grave who wants Evie dead. The same demon who has haunted the Knight men for over four generations. Soon Calvin is forced to make a choice: Set Evie free and hope to evade the wrath of The Raven- haired Ghost, or use his newly gifted strengths to fight against her. If he chooses to fight and wins, Calvin will free the Knight men of this demonic witch. If he loses, Evie will become her next victim.

Writing Romance That’s Clean Without Losing the Steam!

I’m a reader of good, clean romance, a lover of family time and Diet Coke, and the ultimate hater of laundry.
I’m not patient enough to enjoy a yoga class, or tall enough to be great at basketball, but I do love to run – anywhere but on a treadmill. I love the sound of a rainstorm when I have no place to go, the feel of Soft Lips chap Stick on my lips, and the first peek of blue water as we round the mountains toward our favorite getaway in Bear Lake.
