My favorite!!! I love YA Paranormal... it's true. I'm super-excited to share this book... and this awesome author interview. It's got everything I love!!!

Stitch (Stitch Trilogy, #1)Stitch
by Samantha Durante
Paperback, 314 pages
Published August 1st 2012 by Samantha Durante

Premise:

Her heart races, her muscles coil, and every impulse in Alessa's body screams at her to run... but yet she's powerless to move.

Still struggling to find her footing after the sudden death of her parents, the last thing college freshman Alessa has the strength to deal with is the inexplicable visceral pull drawing her to a handsome ghostly presence. In between grappling with exams and sorority soirees - and disturbing recurring dreams of being captive in a futuristic prison hell - Alessa is determined to unravel the mystery of the apparition who leaves her breathless. But the terrifying secret she uncovers will find her groping desperately through her nightmares for answers.

Because what Alessa hasn't figured out yet is that she's not really a student, the object of her obsession is no ghost, and her sneaking suspicions that something sinister is lurking behind the walls of her university's idyllic campus are only just scratching the surface...

The opening installment in a twist-laden trilogy, Stitch spans the genres of paranormal romance and dystopian sci-fi to explore the challenges of a society in transition, where morality, vision, and pragmatism collide leaving the average citizen to suffer the results.

Ha! This book looks like so much fun...  "Alessa is determined to unravel the mystery of the apparition who leaves her breathless." Oh yea!!!  BRING IT ON!!!  The author has kindly stopped by for a visit... and she brought along an eCopy for a Colorimetry reader. *rubs hands gleefully* Please welcome Samantha Durante!!!

What inspired you to write Stitch?

I started Stitch with the idea of doing a ghost romance in a college setting, but I kept running into one major problem: how could I get the protagonist and her ghost in the same place at the same time?  I didn't want to do time travel (since I always find it hard to rationalize from a logical standpoint) or anything kooky like a seance, and as I wracked my brain for possible solutions, I eventually hit upon one that was TOTALLY unlike anything I'd ever read before.  That particular idea brought in a big dystopian/sci-fi twist that just made the geek in me absolutely giddy (but that's all I can say without giving it away, sorry!).  And that's when I knew I had my book.  :-)

Lol... Yea... must read. This is like torture, you know... sounds like a big secret!!!

Do you have a favorite scene?

Oooh that's a tough one.  I love the party scene earlier in the book because it gives Alessa a chance to finally let her guard down, and you get to see a more playful side of her.  But I think my favorite would have to be in the climax, when they're escaping.  Alessa gets resourceful in a very creative way to break free from an ambush, and I just love how she's so quick on her feet and willing to do whatever needs to be done.  And then when she's having a crisis of faith afterwards, the male lead really steps in to give her the push she needs to continue, and you get a nice glimpse into how mutually supportive their relationship is, which I think is one of the things that makes this couple unique.

Alessa sounds amazing. I really can't wait to meet her!!!

Share something personal!!  What do you do in your free time?

Haha, WHAT free time??  Just kidding - I do make time for myself, and when I do, I generally like to read (not surprisingly - I find that's a common trait amongst authors!), or watch TV (I'm addicted to my DVR) or just hang out with my husband and my cat doing nothing.  Pretty standard stuff, but I find that's the only way I can relax - just doing normal stuff and losing myself in it, instead of trying to multitask like I normally do.  :-)

Thanks again for hosting me, Laura!

Thank you for coming, Samantha!!!  What a fun interview!!!
