Q: Which book genre do you avoid at all costs and why?
The trouble with a straight answer is, there is always an exception.
Autobiographies and Memoirs can be boring b/c there are rarely any light sabers involved (unless it was a relative of mine writing) but as soon as I write that, I think of Bruchko, who headed off into the Amazon jungle to visit a tribe he was warned to stay away from and he got speared in the leg and ended up becoming friends with them. Gives me goosebumps, it was such a great book.
I'm not a mystery girl - although, since I like not being able to guess the end, maybe I should be - but The Westing Game is one of my all-time favorite books, so I should definitely not say I avoid mysteries at all costs.
Maybe horror... add tension with graphic violence and that sounds like something I'm not really interested in and probably I Am Number Four doesn't count as proof that I might like it, right?
And I'm sure I'm not into erotica stuff. Any passionate detailed love scenes put me off pretty badly 'cause I feel like I'm the character in the book and frankly, I know who I want to experience that with and whoever-it-is isn't him.
Hey... maybe that's why I say "no erotica, no horror" on my What-I'll-Review page!! I know I'll think of an exception (Sunshine!! OMG, that's a great scene, actually!) but I can't promise to finish and review, so that's a good answer.
There... not so hard!!
