Whispers in Autumn
by Trisha Leigh
Published July 24th 2012
Premise: Ganked from Goodreads:
In 2015, a race of alien Others conquered Earth. They enslaved humanity not by force, but through an aggressive mind control that turned people into contented, unquestioning robots.
Except sixteen-year-old Althea isn’t content at all, and she doesn’t need the mysterious note inside her locket to tell her she’s Something Else. It also warns her to trust no one, so she hides the pieces that make her different, even though it means being alone.
The autumn she meets Lucas, everything changes.
Althea and Lucas are immune to the alien mind control, and together they search for the reason why. What they uncover is a stunning truth the Others never anticipated, one with the potential to free the brainwashed human race.
It’s not who they are that makes them special, but what.
And what they are is a threat. One the Others are determined to eliminate for good.
This cover is so beautiful and the premise is so intense... I had to check out Tisha's book!!! Happily for me, she agreed to do an interview as well as give a Colorimetry reader a copy of her NEW BOOK!! Oh yea, it's hot off the shelf... released TODAY!! :-D Please welcome Trish Leigh with me!!
What inspired you to write Whispers in Autumn?
The idea for the book
actually came from a tweet. I can’t recall who tweeted it now, but it read: “my
friend’s daughter came in her room in the middle of the night, terrified she
didn’t exist.” It caught my attention, I wrote it down and tossed it on my
desk. Over the next several days Althea showed up and told me why she was
afraid she didn’t exist, and the story snowballed from there.
What is your favorite scene or character?
Althea is kind of a
hard nut to crack, emotionally, but I love her quiet bravery and passion. My
favorite scene happens about 2/3 of the way through the book, so it’s hard to
share too much without spoiling, but it starts with kissing and ends with the
main character’s eyes being opened to the endless possibilities that have been
kept from her for sixteen years.
Lol. Ok, you don't share spoilers but you hint at kissing? and eyes being opened? Lol.
Can you share something personal? Pet? Confession?
I have two dogs and a
cat, and though I love them all I’m obsessed with how cute my dog, Yoda, is.
It’s a problem. Just check out my Instagram feed.
And a confession: I
like Nicholas Sparks novels. At least the first several.
Ok... you shared some really great pictures on Pinterest. And I love Pinterest!! So I hopped over and found a pic of Yoda. Hey... "obsessed" is a strong word!! I had to see how cute he is for myself!!
I found these other great pictures of your Inspiration for Whispers in Autumn:
I like pictures. They say so much.
