Here's the thing. I did not mean to get sucked into a 6-book-series right now. But I am soooo glad I did!! Ha!! You can see my review to Vampire Academy and Frostbite already. Watch for Shadow Kiss coming soon!

So, what do you think about series? Personally, I am in book-heaven: nose-deep in Blood Promises with three delicious big volumes to go. I feel like Rose and I are BFF's and Lissa, Christian, Dimitri, Adrian and everyone are so vividly alive for me.
I hate it when a good book ends, you know? Like this comic strip Valeria sent me. I totally feel like this:
I totally blame her for getting me into this series. But isn't that what friends are for? Allow me to pass on the favor... you are about to get STUCK IN A GOOD BOOK!! Yea!!
This is an international giveaway for an ebook of any in the Vampire Academy series. If you prefer a print copy, we can negotiate how much chocolate you will send me to compensate for the price. That offer is unique to this giveaway only. For other, general rules, see About Me.

Honestly, I like both. I don't mind reading a 6 or 7 book series as long as it's good of course. Thank you for the giveaway! :)
ReplyDeleteI loved this series so much because it was such a different take on the whole 'vampire' genre. And besides, who doesn't love a strong woman like Rose? Thanks for sharing <3
ReplyDeleteAnd to answer your question, I never like a stand alone as much as a series. There's something about the anticipa............tion.
ReplyDeleteNice!!
DeleteYea... Rose is awesome. More of her is much better than less!
I LOVE long series! That way it never ends and I can keep on reading about the fantastic storyline forever :)
ReplyDeleteI love long series & stand-alones. But I prefer series because I get updates about my favorite characters in each book.
ReplyDeleteI love a good series that knows when to end.
ReplyDeleteLol. Good point!
DeleteI like a long series but stand alones are always great to.
ReplyDeleteThe series always gives me more to look forward to though.
I prefer long series, though stand-alones are ok as well. Thanks for the giveaway! :)
ReplyDeletei love long series - it is just that with a series there is more room for plot, character development and everything that makes a book a great read ^^
ReplyDeleteI don't mind either way! I love long series especially when I love the characters and don't want it to end. I just hate waiting for the next book in the series!
ReplyDeleteI actually like both. The worst thing about a series is waiting for the next book
ReplyDeleteHi Laura. I love long series and standalones :D Long series - especially when the plot and characters are realllly awesome :D I haven't read this series but I would really love to :D
ReplyDeleteI'm Ara, by the way :D
Hi Ara!
DeleteYou have coffee in your name!! That's awesome! I'm a new follower on your blog!
I love both! I've read some awesome stand-alones (The Sky is Everywhere by Jandy Nelson) as well as some awesome series' (the Mortal Instruments series by Cassie Clare).
ReplyDeleteI love long series, in fact I am a series addict - If I love the first book I just want it to keep going on and on.
ReplyDeleteSo you know I post under BLHmistress, but signed in on rafflecopter as Dawna Newman
DeleteOh, thx! Sometimes it is hard to tell who is who and where!
DeleteI like series' but shorter ones are better. Sometimes by the 4th or 5th book I just want to get to the end already. Well depending on the series. Some I wish would go on forver, like Mortal Instruments and Morganville Vampires. Others start to feel like the author is just dragging it out on purpose, knowing I'll keep reading just to find out how it ends.
ReplyDeleteI am starting the Morganville Vampires, too. I'm glad you like to see 'em keep going!
DeleteI like both series and stand alones if they are done well.
ReplyDeleteI do love reading stand alones but generally I prefer series... I really like it because I get to know the character a lot... Though in series, I prefer that the main characters will be different with each books... For ex, the first book is all about the first son then the next is about the second son, etc... Thank you for this!!!
ReplyDeleteOh yea... I know what you mean. I like that, too. It sort of leaves the awesomeness of the one book and characters to shine on their own and yet gives a bit of nostalgic connection to 'em, too. Or, rather, what you said.
DeleteWow, I guess it depends. If I'm short on time, it's nice to read a great stand alone, and they are great to read in between a long series. I love a series if the writer can make the last as good as the first. I've heard good things about the VA series :)
ReplyDeletetime is a great point! It's hard to be stuck in a series when ya don't have the time for it!! Argh!!!!
DeleteWhile I do occasionally enjoy reading some standalones, I actually prefer series. Having more books in the series gives them time to better describe the characters and to create a deeper plot.
ReplyDeleteMy fave book series ever, *Sweet Valley High*, had 183 books total. (Not including the SVH "Senior Year" books.)
It really depends on how many books I have to read. If I'm behind, I prefer a stand alone because I get so sucked into a series that I want to read them all before I read something else. lol
ReplyDeleteI loved this series so, so much! I read it (no joke) in three days. I know, it sounds crazy and I think I didn't eat much in those days. But really, how can you even think about eating when you get to read about Dimitri?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I'm curious what you'll think of Last Sacrifice. Also, are you planning on reading Bloodlines, the spin-off series? Can't say I loved them as much as Vampire Academy, but they're still good.
If the story is great I don't mind reading 5, 6 books but I think I rather read a trilogy :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
I love both~ but, prefer long series. I just love staying in a world with characters I love~ don't want it to end! I love a good stand alone novel as well because even tho I love series sometimes I'm in the mood for a good quick read. :) THank you for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI like both, but I prefer long series.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
I like both, because stand alone books get me through the dreary days until the new book in my favorite series come out! I'm stuck in a ton of series right now, and none of the new books are coming out for months or even not until next year!
ReplyDeleteI like both but I don't like super long series. Anything over ten volumes is just too much.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the book! If it's something I like then I hope that it never ends! Great giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteI strongly prefer series...as long as they are great!

I read both, but I love series!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the amazing giveaway!

I prefer a series until it ends :(
ReplyDeleteThanks for the awesome giveaway!
cassandrahicks1989@yahoo.com
I love long series, they become like old friends!
ReplyDeleteI really like long series. I get to know the characters even better that way! :)
ReplyDeleteLong series if it is good
ReplyDeleteseyma_bennett@hotmail.com
I prefer stand-alone books because they help me feel as if I've accomplished something once I finish reading one. Series are great, too, but I get so ANXIOUS about them and the waiting!
ReplyDeleteI like series because I tend to get really involved in characters
ReplyDeleteI like both.
ReplyDeletejmesparza821(at)gmail(dot)com
It depends on the series, how strong the plot lines and story is in a whole. There are some great series that I wished continued on more than one or three books but there are others that I wished wrapped sooner!!
ReplyDeleteI like a good series but mostly read stand alone books, Thanks!

I have a love/hate relationship with series. I love being able to get to see the characters grow and develop and revisit their worlds over and over again. I hate when they go on too long or that once I am hooked I have then have to devote myself to reading the entire series.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy both. I love to discover a new series and enjoying revisiting with favourite characters again and again. But, sometimes, I just feel like reading a stand-alone book so that I don't feel the compulsion to read every book in the series!
ReplyDeleteI kind of don'tlike long giveaways! That's why I haven't started reading Harry Potter, or Vampire Academy. But i think it's time for me tor read them, now! This is a great giveaway! thank you
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite series. I just finished it last week and loved it. Rose is my BFF, Dimitri is my BF. :)
