Ok... the End of the World means something different to me. It's the day after one of my boys' birthdays... the one of our kids who tears up when he thinks the Aztec Calendar might be right. He doesn't remember Y2K (me, neither, this is hypothetical). He doesn't remember all the build-up to everything shutting down and staying up late at night to watch all the computers shut down (I heard some people did that).
I gotta offer some dystopian books about an alternate future that might happen if the Aztecs are right, but I'm going to offer books that won't come out until after the world ends, hopin' they're wrong. For my son.
You like that juxtaposition? Planning for the real future while enjoying the possible destruction?
