To the Lunar Love Giveaway Hop!!!

Welcome
to the

Hosted by I Am A Reader, Not a Writer & Bookworm Lisa... catch all 150+ bloggers giving something book-related away this Hop on their sites!!!

The Moon is an innocent thing, you would think... hanging in the sky, so beautiful.

Well... trying to find a peaceful book that includes either the subject of the Moon or a picture of the Moon is virtually impossible. I found a lot of WILD night activity, which reminded me of how busy Emergency Rooms at hospitals everywhere get on the night of full moon!!!

What is up with that?!

I found the following books that included the MOON for giveaway.  Pretty much anything that says or includes MOON applies. You try and find INNOCENCE and MOON in the same book... it's tricky!!

So this is a rather VICIOUS giveaway... I fought the vampire pull to gather together an eclectic variety.

Raised by Wolves (Raised by Wolves, #1)  Trading in Danger (Vatta's War, #1)  Moon Called (Mercedes Thompson, #1)  Keeping the Moon  The Moon is a Harsh Mistress  Kitty and the Midnight Hour (Kitty Norville, #1)  Cinder (Lunar Chronicles, #1)  Bloodfever (Fever, #2)  Bayou Moon (The Edge, #2)

Um... obviously most of these are pulled from my experience. Cinder's a great book and it's called Book #1 of the Lunar Chronicles, so it's IN!  :-)  Elizabeth Moon is a great author and this first book of her Vatta Series is really fun. Heinlein is... well, Heinlein. Patricia Briggs popped up more than any other author and I've heard Moning & Dessen are amazing. Barnes wrote a really great wolf series, I think, and Kitty is a MUST-READ for me, which leaves Bayou Moon... she's got a sword.

I would wax on to greater depths about something except it's time to cook dinner and the munchkins are foraging, which means if I don't get cookin', we'll be out of cool snacks within the hour.

To enter this giveaway... you need to receive your winnings from The Book Depository or some e-version, if you choose. (There are some places TBD doesn't go!!) You gotta comply with regular Giveaway Rules and you can't blame anyone if you don't win or whatever.

Thank you for following Colorimetry!!
Have an awesome day!!!

Please share any cool moon pictures you have!!!!

That would be SWEET!!!  :-)
That's a bonus.

My AWESOME QUESTION is...
have you had a "Moon Moment" - share it with me!!!

My answer... I was in the middle of Mexican nowhere and the sun set in the western desert while the moon rose in the east over the ocean at the exact same time ('cause I was on a peninsula). I was swinging in a hammock in a mini palapa thinking I must've arrived in heaven. Warm breeze... zero people... endless beach... just the sound of the ocean...

*sigh*

  1. I haven't had any moon moments. However, this hop has reminded me of my 8th grade science class when we had to keep a moon phase chart for a 9 week grading period. Memories.

  2. I love the moon, always have. So, i've had LOTS of lunar moments, but one I remember...

It was summer, the crickets were doing their awesome song as the night had just fallen. The breeze was warm, & the moon was hanging ENORMOUS in front of me. I live in NoWhere, so the moon light was bright, washing me over.
IDK, I just LOVE that... sensation of calm, -of closeness- I feel whenever the moon is full & I know I can talk to her -or whatever's listening up there- & I'll be listened.

Oh, & BTW, I recommend you guys the movie "Underthe Same Moon" with Eugenio Derbez. I tell you this because I WANT YOU to cry like babies! &, today's full moon, too. So say hello!

Last year or the year before, whenever there was the thing with the moon, looking super HUGE and up close or red...I don't remember which, but I remember it was going to be best visible at 4AM my time. I woke up and I was SO excited to see the awesome moon, and it was cloudy. Super. Cloudy. :| :| :|

  8. About a month or two ago I saw the most BEAUTIFUL moon (luminous glow, extremely round, with spooky clouds to top it off) ever when I was leaving the house for school at 6AM. Totally looked like something out of a painting (I would say photo, but we all know the moons in photos end up looking like a speck of dust.)

okay, that was a boring story. Can I just make up one about me turning into a werewolf?

    Thank you for the giveaway!,

  10. I was nine and visitng my grandparents during the summer. They lived in a cabin in rual Colorado. One night after a game of scrabble, I sat in the living room and looked out the window. The stars were shining and a beautiful bright low hanging full moon was beckoning me outside. I sat on the deck basking in the cestial glory. I remember thinking this is the most wonderful moment of my life. It was so serene, so perfect. I will never forget that night.

  30. No, I haven't! But...what's a Moon moment?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Ah... "Moon Moment" is whatever you want it to be. Enjoying a full moon counts.

I love watching the night sky, so I have tons of brilliant memories... coming home after working graveyard shift to a HUGE sky, the moon huge and low through stark tree branches, the school campus silent (for once).

I've laid on the hood of a PU in the middle of the desert, too, and watched the milky way...

I guess when a moment, ANY moment is burned on your memory forever, it's a Moment - a treasure you have in your heart forever. So... a Moon Moment would include the Moon. :-)

  34. The best moon moment for me occurred on May 22, 2008. It was a comfortable spring night. There was a light breeze and clear sky with the moon high and large in the sky. I was sitting in a rocker on the back porch when my right hand started itching. I looked down and had to rub my eyes as it looked like my hand was contorting and changing in shape! I felt a stabbing pain in my left foot. Freaked about my hand, I was afraid to look at my foot but I had to know what was causing the discomfort! Holy crap! My foot had grown a few inches longer and hair was pushing out of my toes. Within five minutes, I was on four feet, sniffing the air. I felt free and alive and was ready to run. I took off and emjoyed my first evening as a werewolf!

LOL....ok, besides loving looking at the moon, I have no moon moments;)

  36. No I haven't had a lunar moment. I love the moon though and love when I am walking my almost 2 year old nephew home who lives in the apartment across from mine at night and he looks up to the sky looking for the moon and he gets excited when he finds it and screams. He even starts to cry when I drop him off at his place and he has to stay inside. I think he is secretly going to turn into a werewolf when he gets older.

  42. I've had loads of moon moments, but I've chosen a funny-not-so-funny (well, NOW it is funny lol) one to share:
It was an International contest, and one should create a beautiful art, using the moon (I don't remember now why, for Hewllet-Packward. So, I used my best skills in computer drawing-effects (it was back in 1999) in my Macintosh computer. And then, happy with the result, the beautiful colors, I went to (I forgot the name for that place so...) the place where they print it, like, it was supposed to be professionally... and all of my beautiful shades of red were turned into horrid shades of brown, and the man dared even to show me that as though it was his most perfect job ever! He had to press a button and print!

Then I said: "It's all wrong (Shouting) Is this red in your world? I refused to pay for the shitty job, of course, for a person who works with this "professionally" should know the difference between RGB/CMYK colors..."

It was hard on the occasion, it almost killed my will to develop further my drawing in computer skills *drama queen* - but know it is a funny story about the stupidity of a person who pretends to be professional on something that, of course, he does not know anything about!

When I finally got the REAL image, in beautiful read shades ... it was so beautiful, and late for the contest... but never mind =] I regained my cool and went for the artsy stuff again. I do not have this image here anymore =( Sorry, it was lost years ago when the computer crashed and only the green version of it was in the backup... and it was Photoshop 4, I think, so, now, it does not look so cool, lol, but I can leave you with some pretty art about the moon here I've made (and hope to find more time to go on doing that =] Soon!

It's called "Once in a Blood Moon"
