When your dreams come true, sometimes you get more than you bargained for...
Natalie Johnson has always dreamed she’s someone else; calm, beautiful, in control. A chosen warrior with a maniacal arch nemesis and a dreamy boyfriend, the type that can make your knees melt and your heart quiver.
Real life is much different. She’s tormented by a bully and endures the sharp tongue of her father, but finds solace in her dreams.
When her bully ends up dead, de ja vu from a dream hits her hard as everything around her begins to fall apart.
Whatever killed Sarah in her dreams is now in reality, hunting her from the shadows. And it wants her dead.
Somehow as the lines between reality and nightmare blur, Natalie must discover hidden strength to pull her friends and family back from the brink of madness.

So impressed!!,I am so happy to welcome Jill Cooper to Colorimetry!! This book sounds so FUN with the extravagant dreams and the eerie-real consequences. Yikes!!! Who doesn't dream?! Yet, there's so much safety in knowing they're only dreams!!June 18, 2012 By
C. Seiver "irish family"This review is from: The Dream Slayer (The Dream Slayer Series) (Kindle Edition)Jill Cooper delivers far and above with her first novel,The Dream Slayer. Like the other reviewers,I,too, was put in mind of Buffy when I first began reading. But,after a few chapters,it quickly becomes apparent our heroine,Natalie,is nothing like Buffy.Shes better. Ms.Cooper gives us a much needed reality check and a breath of fang-tinted air with a normal teenager with normal teenage problems in Natalie. With plenty of plot twists, action, emotion, good vs evil, blossoming love, demons, vampires and witty dialogue,Dream Slayer kept me entertained, turning pages quickly to find what happened next, thoroughly engrossed in Natalie & her friends lives. I wont give a synopsis, figuring out the story is part of the great read that this book is! For any fan of this genre,be prepared to fall in love with Jill Cooper's The Dream Slayer. I cant wait for more to sink my teeth into!
What inspired you to write your story?
I was vacationing in the small city of Rutland, Vermont, and we were watching some re-runs of Buffy on television. I started thinking to myself what would happen if Buffy wasn't thin, perfect, and popular? What would she be like? In essence what would the Buffy story lines be WITHOUT Buffy.
And the idea grew from there. What if you were the chubby four-eyed kid in school who is constantly picked on. And you day dream to get away from it all that you are this perfect version of yourself. The story is a self discovery about how even the not so perfect kids have hidden strength, bravery, and power inside themselves.
Love it. I'm very familiar with being not-so-perfect myself!!
What's your favorite scene?
I have a lot of favorites, I can't lie. My favorite to re-read is a quiet scene where Natalie's best friend, Tristan, confesses his true feelings for her. She's overwhelmed because she doesn't think it's possible for anyone to love her like that, especially her best friend. And he takes her shock for being repulsed by HIM. Before she can explain, lots of bad stuff happens and a wedge grows between them that forces her to stand on her two feet the remainder of the book. Will she return his feelings? I guess you'll have to find out!
Haha - ugh!! I want to know NOW!!
Please share something personal!! Do you have pets? maybe some scandalous moment you'd like to share with the wide world of book lovers? :-D
I have 2 all white cats. Spike and Illy.
Writing pretty much takes up all my time, but I do love to Beta read for other authors. It's a great way to learn and to give back to so many that have helped me.
I haven't done anything scandalous in years, but when I met my husband online we quickly fell in love. I was only 19 at the time and quickly flew 3,000 miles to meet him against everyone's advice. Less than 4 months later we were married in quite the small town scandal.
15 years later, we have a 2 year old girl and are still very happy :)
Almost sounds like a good premise for a book, eh! It was 1996 before the existence of things like Match.com We were like chat lover pioneers.
Hilarious. That is scandalous!! I'm totally skeptical of online romance, being a victim of love-at-first-sight myself. Lol. Love comes in all ways, doesn't it?! :-D
