Snapshot - Roses II

Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce @ At Home with Books.

I took these pictures this afternoon. The Burgundy Ice (below) is where my name comes from. It's still blooming!  The bud (above) is my favorite "tree" that I mentioned trimming enthusiastically last spring. This is the very first bud it's produced. Finally. I kissed it and promised to never trim so much ever again even if it wants to bloom over the house roof!

September Roses...

  2. They are lovely - I adore roses, especially the old varieties which have such wonderful perfumes. My Snapshot is at http://goo.gl/DncFP

  4. I've never heard of a Burgandy Ice before - it's beautiful! I can see why it's your favorite.

  5. Those are gorgeous! My roses started blooming again this week and I love it. We have one rose though that puts out just a couple of thin long vines to the sky - it's not bushy at all. So we trimmed it back because it was almost to the roof. We only got one bloom out of it (gorgeous pale violet - huge flower), so I let it grow all summer and it's almost up to the roof again, but still no more buds.

    1. They are emotional, roses are. A friend tells me "how to trim" like his system will work on every one of 'em, but I've found different temperaments in my yard. They are training ME!

  8. Oh so pretty! I always think it's such a treat to see roses still blooming when all else is starting to go blousey and dry ...

  9. Pretty, that bottom flower looks like it would have a lovely scent too.

    1. I'm guessing it'll grow stronger as the bush gets older. It's fairly young.

  10. They are so pretty! I'm totally jealous, just so you know. Either I'm very unlucky with flowers, or roses hate me *pout* Though I will try again. I wish I had a garden though, it's pretty difficult to have perfect, pretty flowers in an apartment *sigh*
