Choose yer rations!
Excerpt:
We walk down an aisle marked “Consumables.” I scan the shelves for familiar-looking cans, but I don’t recognize anything. There are a few rows of canned goods, but nothing so methodically-labeled as the D-B334 I’m used to seeing. Instead, the cans are color-coordinated and boast labels like “Beef” and “Chicken”—complete with quotation marks. Real meat isn’t available to the public down here, even in the North Q; it’s much more cost effective for the Tribunal to create synthetic versions than to keep livestock. Even the pets that skydwellers dote upon are genetically engineered. I’ve never seen one in person, of course, but every year they show a “Best Pet” competition on TV. I hate to admit it’s one program I kind of enjoy.
Further down the aisle we pass boxes of crackers, packages of noodles, and shiny, foil-wrapped candy bars. I haven’t seen this kind of stuff since I was a little kid. I pick up a box of crackers and check the price tag on the bottom.
“Ten credits for this?” That’d buy a dozen cans of slop at the Rationing. “What a joke.”
“Huh?” Adam says, examining a jar of dark blue jelly.

Snapshot - Gobble-Gobble!!

This is fun... Trinity took a bazillion pictures of her cookie-turkey that she made at school. She wanted to bring it with her to Thanksgiving, but it kept losing tail-feathers and eventually she decided that she took enough pictures that she could share her creation and no one really needed to see it in person, anyway... so it didn't make it to Thanksgiving, after all.

I think it's funny how she wanted so many candid shots with LIFE in the background. That'd be fuzzy-me! Me washing dishes, me cooking dinner...

Finally... me on my b-day. I get the hugs when I can from my busy-busy kiddledids. The two that are passing me up in height wouldn't pose, of course. No worries... I'll catch 'em for The Christmas Picture!!  :-D

Thx, Alyce @ At Home with Books for hosting Saturday Snapshot!!!  :-D

The Answer to Life, the Universe & Everything... has finally arrived!

File:Answer to Life.png

My honey meant to tease me for my birthday, as in "aren't you getting so old" (not that either of us have "grown up".) Instead, he triggered a memory... I was 17 when I first read The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and decided that the year I turned 42 would be the best year of my crazy life. One memory led to others which led to a mischievousness glee...

Because, for a few minutes, I had considered accepting age and maturity. After all, "mid-forties" caries some responsibility, does it not?  Maybe for some. For me... the answer to all the greatest questions of my Life has finally arrived. Who knows what the exact question was, who cares? Lol. Throwing caution to the wind, I'm a living, breathing answer to something.

Let me counsel you (in all my great wisdom), if you're over 42, you've arrived. Be confident and do it (whatever it is.) If you have yet to arrive... decide now that 42 will be glorious.

Googling "42" comes up with some wildly hilarious stuff. My favorite (so far) is this list of crazy things:

http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/history/42-the-answer-to-life-the-universe-and-everything-2205734.html

I quote a few...

2. The world's first book printed with movable type is the Gutenberg Bible which has 42 lines per page.

12. Toy Story character Buzz Lightyear's spaceship is named 42.

14. The youngest president of the United States,Theodore Roosevelt, was 42 when he was elected.

35. Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland has 42 illustrations.

Did you know...

light refracts off water by 42 degrees to create a rainbow

Just because Douglas Adams intended to be completely random in his hilarious book, I am quite happy to snatch whatever meaning I feel like, and make it my own. Like this random rainbow fact from the Wikipedia entry on the Guide.

I'm enjoying some reading Starflower today, which is exactly just right, along with hanging out with family. I have a B&N gift card... but I can't decide what to get...

Which would you recommend?

The Crown of Embers (Fire and Thorns, #2) Days of Blood & Starlight (Daughter of Smoke and Bone, #2) Deity (Covenant, #3) The Rise of Nine (Lorien Legacies, #3) Scarlet (Lunar Chronicles, #2) The Golden Lily (Bloodlines, #2) The Essence (The Pledge, #2) Hidden (Firelight, #3) Nobody The Raven Boys (Raven Cycle, #1) Reached (Matched, #3) Dark Triumph (His Fair Assassin, #2)

*sigh* What a BEAUTIFUL Wishlist!! I'm just drooling creating it. I can't remember all the books I want on my Wishlist... what books have been your favorite so far this year? Or which books are you droolin' to get your hands on next?!
