Merry Christmas!

Christmas on the Square

Life has gotten a bit hectic for me b/c I'm working... just a small matter of NO TIME.  For much of anything. At all. I breathe.

There are tons of perks though...

1 - I work on Pioneer Courthouse Square and this is my view every night while I wait for the train. (I had no idea my phone took such rotten pix. *raspberry*)

2 - One of my duties is to coordinate a Christmas Party.  Lol. Ok!!!!!!  I have 384 RSVPs. *fist pump*

3 - I get 45 mins twice a day to just READ while riding fore-mentioned train.  :-D

4 - Moments with family are precious... like gold [or diamonds if you watch Gold Rush. (Nut jobs.) What? They are all crazy... or going crazy. We're cheering Parker on, but he's getting snippy and doesn't care, which doesn't look nice on him. And those glory hole goofballs?!  Fix. your. hole. You don't arrive at your goal and quit. Duh.  Don't even bring up the dingalings in S America. Seriously. They continue to make decisions using the power of enthusiastic hope instead of tedious things like Research. Or Planning.]

5 - Prism Book Tours is still going... thanks to Tressa of Tressa's Wishful Endings who offered her organized brain to the mess and continually makes sure everyone gets their posting materials while I randomly check in and throw confetti.

I think that's it. If I try to think of any more perks to suddenly working full time and basically losing 10.5 hours of every day while still trying to do the same amount of other things I did before (like laundry) (and eat) I'll start slippin' down that slippery slope of whining.  And really... someone is paying me to throw a Christmas Party... and I'm right at that sweet spot of just getting to know all the other co-workers so everyone is super-nice and friendly and rather vague shadows of "who are you again?" and I'm not ticked off at anyone, yet.  Perfect.  No complaints. At all.  So there.

So what if some of her memories are missing? She remembers Gabe and that’s all that matters, right?

That is, until HE enters her life again . . . she forgot about HIM.

I love the premise of this story - I really want to know, WHO IS HE?!  Who does Holly not remember?!

Well . . . if I say who HE is, it would totally be a spoiler. Sorry! But, I will say this: this part of the story line came to me due to worry over my overactive imagination. I mean, seriously, I live in a dream world all the time! What if I had an accident wherein the results were amnesia. Would I wake up believing that Alex from Sierra (one of my other books) was really my husband? My hubby would be horribly hurt. Or maybe he would laugh at me, I'm not sure! But, you get the idea. My mind is so filled with imaginary characters, who knows what my subconscious would conjure up as the truth. I am completely intrigued by this thought and this is what set me on my way towards writing I Have People. 

What secret dreams do you have in your heart? Are those secret dreams so ingrained into your soul that you'd wake up from amnesia believing they were true?

Kinda scary, huh?

Yea... actually. That's quite the imagination!!

What experiences did you have that went into this story? I hope not memory loss!!!

I, personally, have never experienced memory loss, thank goodness. However, I vividly remember my favorite high school English teacher sadly telling us that his wife had been in a bicycle accident. Due to head trauma, the results were amnesia. I've never forgotten the incident. His story left a huge impact on me. After all, amnesia seemed like something that only happened in the movies! He updated us often on his wife's progress and I was fascinated by the story. This experience has always been in the back of my mind--and greatly influenced the writing of I Have People without me really realizing it. But, that's the way writing works for me. All of my past experiences work their way into my writing. I am continually surprised by this and often think, "Wow, who knew I'd someday use that story in my writing!" 

Wow!  How amazing that your teacher shared so much with you... and how incredible that you soaked it up like that.

Do you have a favorite scene?

The moment when Holly realizes the truth about her life--and realizes what the hero of the story has done for her. The unconditional love he has shown towards her is amazing.

In I Have People, I wanted to show the marked difference between a good man and a not-so-good man. It is a story about out-of-control anger and its effects. I wrote it because I have a strong dislike for people who can't control their temper. In other words, the story has a point--an important point. That is, perhaps, my favorite thing of all.

Ha! That's funny in a not-so-funny sort of way. I really want to read I Have People now. (Literally. Now.)

Tonight I went to Craft Night at the kids' school and I'm really tired of glue and sequins. Lol. I'm also sugared-out on Christmas cookies, which is the best thing ever. I made it to the Post Office, too, with packages for winners who were waiting a long time. *fist pump*  That's all. I really have No News to declare besides sharing some geese. Voila!

Ooo la la!

I have a weird question this fine nearly-December-3rd. Are you giving anything up this Christmas season?

I ask because... I'm cutting back on cookies. I can't list which ones specifically, or I'll run out and buy the ingredients right now. Lol. I'm tired of gaining weight every Christmas, so I'm picking a few fav's and skippin' the rest.

The question came up in the first place 'cause some good friends finally sold their house and they decided to get a Christmas tree even though they are (frantically) packing. I think I would do the same... 'cause the tree would be a small island of celebration in the midst of the stress. But... if I was in that situation, I probably wouldn't string twinkle lights in everyone's bedroom, like I did this weekend. You know?

Sometimes there's good reason to give something special up - temporarily, at least (or so I tell myself).
