Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon Sign-Up for 9/8 - 9/21

Does your TBR pile just keep growing? Well, so do ours! Tressa @ Tressa's Wishful Endings and I decided it was a great time to organize a read-a-thon, especially with the kids back in school.

Read-a-thon Information

The Tackle Your TBR Read-a-thon begins September 8th and ends September 21st. You do not have to be a blogger to sign up. Just use your Goodreads, Twitter, Facebook, or Tumblr profile instead (the place you're going to post updates on).

Please sign up by using the linky at the end of this post. You MUST be signed up in the linky to enter the giveaways and participate in the challenges. The linky will close half-way through the read-a-thon, on September 16th, so sign up before then.

You're welcome to participate as much or as little as you'd like. The read-a-thon is to encourage us all to read so that we can tackle those TBR piles, not to cause extra stress. ;) You will see requests for updates about every other day at the end of specific posts, but again, there are no requirements that you do it. If you do want to post a daily update, here is a simple template (omit or add things as you like):

(Day of the week)
Books currently reading:
Today's finished books:
Total finished books:
Titles of finished books:

Tressa will be posting daily updates on her blog and you can come and leave a link or comment to update on her post as you would like. We will be using hashtag #TackleTBR on Twitter for updates and tweets. This is also a great way to find others participating and give some encouragement. There will be a grand prize giveaway with multiple winners sponsored by the hosts that will end on September 22nd.

I'll be posting, too. Most likely randomly. Of course!

Challenges

If you’re participating in the read-a-thon and would love to host a challenge, this is what you need to know:

There will be five dates available. The dates are: September 9th, 11th, 13th, 17th, and 19th. There will be some author hosted posts in-between the challenges.
There aren’t a lot of requirements to host a challenge, but here they are:
  1. You must have a blog to post on so that everyone has access to your post and can participate.
  2. Posts need to be up by 6 am wherever you live on the day of your post.
  3. Your challenge can be as easy (asking a question and the participant leaving a comment or linking a post on their blog, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, etc.) or as difficult as you like. Just be sure it’s something participants can do if they don’t have a blog.
  4. Also, we would love it if you also posted a giveaway with your challenge, but it isn’t required. If you do have a challenge that takes some time or serious effort, you really could have a giveaway as an incentive for doing it.
To sign up to host a challenge, please email the following information to Tressa at wishfulendings(at)outlook(dot)com or fill out the form below:

Name:
Website Name (as you want it to appear on the schedule):
Requested Post Date(s):
Type of Challenge (this is just to note so that those hosting challenges hopefully won't do the same thing):
Giveaway (yes or no - I don't need to know what you're giving away, it just needs to be book related):

Faery Party!!

Sheila at Book Journey has a Mini-Challenge for read-a-thon-ers.

What book are you reading?
&
Party food for a book discussion!!

(My paraphrase - hop over to enter and see the real-deal rules)

The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1)I'm reading The Iron King - and it just hooked me for serious now that Meghan is tackling this Nevernever faeryland like she's got a chance against all the threatening freakies hiding around every turn!!

I would love to invite everyone over to discuss this fun book in real Nevernever Seelie court style (or is it Unseelie?  I'm still a little confused!!)

through the keyholeI'd decorate the entryway to look like we're passing from our world to there... like a big keyhole!

fantasy garden by lillyfly06

I need shrubbery, trees, twinkle lights, dangling decorations draped from the ceiling & lots of sheer drapery everywhere. We'll have a waterfall in the corner and dry ice for crawling smoke across the floor.

I need exotic music that makes us wanna dance playing in the background and some sort of light show playing off the walls to create the feeling of being in the presence of dancing fae.

Fairy Berries for Fairy Lights sonageemerThen we need the table LOADED full of delicate treats, fruits of all kind in bite-size pieces begging to be eaten - strawberries, cherries, grapes and grapes and grapes, kiwi & pomegranate, watermelon and cantelope balls and wedges of citrus. Lots of long skewers to eat them with!  I'd like all kinds of delicious dips, cream cheeze & whipped cream fluffy creations in all different colors. I should probably drag out the chocolate fountain for effect, too.

♥
Naturally we need  and flowers for everyone's hair!!  We'll kick off our shoes at the door, too!! And everyone can bring different flavors of mini-cupcakes to trade so we'll leave with colorful varieties of too many sweetnesses!!

Woodland Fairy Party

Oh, gosh... let's do it!!!!

Read-a-thon

Hosted by Tiffany over at Book Cover Justice...

Tiffany's dealing with Spring Break, which is a GREAT time to jamb some awesome book reading!!  (That phrase works, right? "jamb book reading"?)  It just so happens that my kids' school district is going on Strike!!  Yea... not good news, except from the kids' perspective, it's like instant extra Break!! I'm going to enjoy a few days of No School before I start panicking and homeschooling (yea, right!)

I do hope the "issues" are "settled" and everyone can come to an "agreement" but honestly, I think it's all a bunch of smoke. From my hick-sticks point of view, this is all a bunch of "don't ya wish everyone managed money better?"  Or "could we grow some money on trees?!"  I say, let's just throw a vampire in their negotiations and see how that livens 'em up!!!

(I'm just blathering. Don't take me seriously. I won't run for any positions on the school board... like my grandma who ravaged.... nevermind. I won't.)

The Iron King (Iron Fey, #1)I've been dabbling my way through The Iron King all week, which has been HIGHLY strange, I tell you what!!  Books read all in one sitting have a different flavor from books read in bits all week, and so far all I know for sure is I do NOT want to fall into Nevernever. Ever.  So, my first goal is to finish this book and hopefully see Ash!!  I've heard so much about him and where did Puck go, anyway?!

I just found out yesterday that some authors are COMING TO MY BARNES & NOBLE on May 4th. MINE!!!!  I about hyperventilated in the store picking up my World Book Night box. And then I lost my keys, which I spend most of today looking for, during which I misplaced my license while re-organizing my purse.

It doesn't make sense, but I blame it on the audacity of these authors coming my way. I want to read all three of these books NOW!!!!  So, they're suddenly up next:

Shatter Me (Shatter Me, #1) Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky, #1)  Eve (Eve, #1)

And then I've got Interrupted and Shadow on the Wall comin' up for review.

Interrupted: Life Beyond Words  Shadow on the Wall (The SandStorm Chronicles, #1)

Sounds like a PERFECT time for a Read-a-thon, doesn't it?  Although I've heard there is a spot of sunshine in the forecast, which will pause life, the universe & everything for a BBQ. Such rare occurrences as spots of blue sky in spring cannot be taken for granted!!
