Splash Into Summer mermaid book Giveaway!

I have invited Sasha Soren, the author of Random Magic, to visit Colorimetry.  Every weekend she hosts a seriously delightful thingame called Book Nooks, where bloggers gather to share the latest find in great places to read. Obviously we have a lot in common instantly. I love to read in lots of lovely places!!

Later in July there is an amazing & zippy Tour highlighting Random Magic. I wanted to give everyone a heads-up about this up-coming fun. There's some wonderful bloggers participating and some fun stuff. Since Sasha is full of surprises, just like her book, she is bringing a unique prize for Colorimetry readers...

Random MagicRandom Magic
by Sasha Soren
Paperback, 397 pages
Published January 1st 2010 by Beach Books, LLC

Premise:

When absent-minded Professor Random misplaces the main character from Alice in Wonderland, young Henry Witherspoon must book-jump to fetch Alice before chaos theory kicks in and the world vanishes.

Along the way he meets Winnie Flapjack, a wit-cracking doodle witch with nothing to her name but a magic feather and a plan. Such as it is.

Henry and Winnie brave the Dark Queen, whatwolves, pirates, Struths, and fluttersmoths, Priscilla and Charybdis, obnoxiously cheerful vampires, Baron Samedi, a nine-dimensional cat, and one perpetually inebriated Muse to rescue Alice and save the world by tea time.

Which are your favorite characters in your book?

they're all favorite characters, just maybe for various reasons.
they're all likable in one way or another. even the rascals arestrangely likable in their own ways. this probably due to fact that
it's kind of a good-natured sort of story.

would probably be fair to say that some of the strongest scenes in the
book really more about friendship and loyalty, rather than good guys
vs. bad guys showdown played out in some big dramatic event. yes, of
course there are dramatic events, but they're not really the central
focus of the story.

people have commented often that it's like watching a movie inside
their heads - I would say, firstly, that that's a much-appreciated
compliment, to be so involved in a story that it's almost like being
immersed in a story. and secondly, that that's probably spot on, since
the story is, in fact, really filmic in nature - lots of colors, wild
characters and vivid scenery - but the reason for that is that it's
just that kind of world.

Do you have a favorite scene?

I can't really pick one, like them all, also just for different reasons.
Some of them because they're funny, some because they're more
philosophical. the book itself is blend of light and dark, just like
life.

Can you share something personal about you?

I enjoy creative projects and people and have an appreciation for them,
particularly if some particular project or work is done
extraordinarily well and is both unusual and beautiful. If it's
uplifting, appreciate that, too; it's great when someone takes the
time to create something wonderful for others to enjoy, also.

Wow, yea. I totally agree!!

You chose something unique for this Giveaway?

The book Random Magic features all kinds of mythical creatures popping up in unexpected places – and that includes mermaids. So, here’s something fun you can win, as part of the Splash into Summer party, celebrating mermaids, mermen, selkies, and all other kinds of interesting, magical denizens of the deep blue sea. We'd like to share something whimsical and cute that would be a fun gift, so please feel free to browse the pix below to pick out your mermaid, and feel free to enter to win, if you like.

Good luck!
