“Jason keeps looking over at us, and Reese gives him a nasty face every time he does it. Am I a bad person if that makes me want to antagonize her even more?”
“Yes. But I’m a bad person, too, so I think that’s a fabulous idea,” I replied.
“In that case, get over here.” Bryce reached out and pulled me sideways onto his lap. Then he whispered against my jaw, close enough to graze it with his lips. I had to suppress a shiver. “Look at Reese and pretend I’m saying something romantic.”
I didn’t have to pretend; he was practically nibbling my ear. But I didn’t want him to know that he was driving me a good kind of crazy. “I can’t fake a romantic face. How about you tell me something funny, and I’ll giggle instead.”
“Cody wears pink boxers with red hearts every Valentine’s Day,” Bryce said, his warm breath tickling my neck. Our friends were back to watching us with intrigue.
I broke into real giggles. “He does not.” I playfully slapped Bryce’s chest, then conveniently left my hand there. I couldn’t help noticing that those muscles were as well defined as his arms. He glanced down at my hand, then back at me. His eyes had trapped me once again, and I felt a zing run through my body. For just a moment, I thought he might kiss me.
