Snapshot - Fireworks

Saturday Snapshot is hosted by Alyce @ At Home with Books

I took a bunch of pictures at our 4th of July BBQ party!

Anticipation!  We had the food tent set up, the chairs and the makeshift table to light the fireworks on. Behind that was a fire extinguisher & a bucket of water. Hey, never trust fireworks, right?

The best part about this picture is I get to show you this tree!! It's a willow tree that received some funky trimming from an excavator. (See which one I mean?) When I first saw it, I was like, Wha? Why leave a tree partially trimmed like that, just hangin' out all awkward, and all? But then I noticed that it's not awkward... it's dancing!!  So, allow me to introduce... The Dancing Tree!

Cool, huh?

Is it dark, yet?

This one was so awesome, we had to check out the leftover debris:

We had a bonfire going to clean up the mess and warm up the watchers. Yea, it was chilly on a July evening. Hey, we're in the Northwest!!  (Think Forks.)

Did you see the moon?!  It came up orange & mysterious lookin' over our party.

Did you light some fireworks to celebrate the 4th of July? I'm happy to share some of our memories even if you don't live in the USA. I've thoroughly enjoyed the Canadian posts this past week. Cultural stuff is fun to share, you know?

  1. Looks like a great party.
In Norway the 4th of July is the Queens birthday, so lots of flags around, but otherwise a regular day.
I made cookies for the guests arriving on the 5th. :-)

  2. We hardly ever do our own fireworks, first because hardly anything is legal in Ohio, but second, so many communities have fireworks. Our skies are full of fireworks around the Fourth of July. Looks like a good time. Here's Mine

  6. That tree is great! I went to two firework shows for Canada Day, but I didn't set off my own. Looks like a fun time!

  7. I saw the big orange moon too, and tried to get some photos but they didn't turn out well. We had a willow like that at my grandparent's house when I was growing up. One year half of it fell down in a storm and it looked odd for years after that. Sadly the whole thing fell down in another storm about 10 years ago. I have so many great memories playing under that tree.

    1. I had no idea how brittle willows are. So opposite of how they look!!

I took so many pictures of the moon and none of 'em turned out how I liked, quite. It was amazing!!

  8. It always takes so long to get dark, doesn't it!? Great moon shot. We had an excellent view of it here too.

  9. I like the daylight fireworks--those are neat! And what a gorgeous moon. I saw it all big and beautiful near me too, but I wasn't ready with a camera.

    1. Oh! Oh, NO!! We picked up our fireworks in Montana on our road trip, so we were chatting w/ friends & family. That wildfire on the news... passed close to one of our friend's houses!!! So Billings declared NO FIREWORKS AT ALL b/c of the fire danger. So understandable, but so horrible, too. I imagine Colorado Springs wasn't too into them either. We felt so badly for our friends!!! Ya gotta respect fire. Phew!
