Repunzel is one of my favorite fairytales. Yes, Tangled is great, but today I tried to capture the haunting of the story I love...
Check out Brothers' Grimm version HERE.
'Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Let down your hair to me.'
According to Wikipedia:
The Grimm Brothers' story is an adaptation of the fairy tale Persinette by Charlotte-Rose de Caumont de La Force originally published in 1698.

Rapunzel's story has striking similarities to the 10th century AD Persian tale of Rudāba, included in the epic poemShahnameh by Ferdowsi. Rudāba offers to let down her hair from her tower so that her lover Zāl can climb up to her.[5]Some elements of the fairy tale might also have originally been based upon the tale of Saint Barbara, who was said to have been locked in a tower by her father.
Which makes me think of Shannon Hale's Book of a Thousand Days where a princess refuses to marry a monster of a man and is bricked up inside a tower for three years or until she relents. The story is written as the handmaiden's journal, and she finds it all rather exciting... and romantic! If you ever wondered what it would feel like to be holed up in a tower... this is such a fun book!! And you can win it on my YA Giveaway. :-D (Plus the cover has a book on it. *love!*)
