Fairytale Friday - Repunzel

I'm tagging behind Amber @ Down the Rabbit Hole as she posts Fairytale Friday. Check her post out!!  She found totally different pictures!

Repunzel is one of my favorite fairytales. Yes, Tangled is great, but today I tried to capture the haunting of the story I love...

Check out Brothers' Grimm version HERE.
'Rapunzel, Rapunzel, Let down your hair to me.'
According to Wikipedia:
The Grimm Brothers' story is an adaptation of the fairy tale Persinette by Charlotte-Rose de Caumont de La Force originally published in 1698.
Rapunzel's story has striking similarities to the 10th century AD Persian tale of Rudāba, included in the epic poemShahnameh by Ferdowsi. Rudāba offers to let down her hair from her tower so that her lover Zāl can climb up to her.[5]Some elements of the fairy tale might also have originally been based upon the tale of Saint Barbara, who was said to have been locked in a tower by her father.
Book of a Thousand DaysWhich makes me think of Shannon Hale's Book of a Thousand Days where a princess refuses to marry a monster of a man and is bricked up inside a tower for three years or until she relents. The story is written as the handmaiden's journal, and she finds it all rather exciting... and romantic!  If you ever wondered what it would feel like to be holed up in a tower... this is such a fun book!!  And you can win it on my YA Giveaway. :-D  (Plus the cover has a book on it. *love!*)

Fairytale in Photos - Tangled

Amber @ Down the Rabbit Hole posts Fairy Tale Photos and I like 'em. Today her theme is Tangled, which is Disney's version of Rapunzel.... which raises the question of To Disney or not to Disney?

Weeeeellll, on one hand, Disney (or any awesome cartoonist) whips up a super-cute version of beloved fairytales, right?  "Cute" as is Happily Ever After.  Hopefully, they create interest in old fairytales.

The flip side is... it's hard to get past this cute version!!  After seeing their beautiful rendition of long, silky hair, will any other hair fill the imagination when reading about Rapunzel?!  Too unforgettable! And so darn CUTE.

My goodness... it makes fairytale lovers like me feel like I should be skipping through a cartoon setting with rainbow colored flowers in my hair.

*cough*

That's not me.

If we must talk about Tangled today (excuse my complaining) let's discuss pro's & con's. (Click on the pix to see where I found 'em.)

I LOVE...
